I never once in my life thought I would live to see this day in any country on earth. So much of my life has been spent doing unpaid work-cleaning, cooking, organizing, and household-running….whether or not I had a “real job”, no matter what other obligations I have had. I STILL do the majority of housework. There is more than one reason my url is what it is.

Never in all my days would I have imagined I would see the day that women of color are paid for this amazing contribution to the running of the world, in any country, at any time.

Now if you will excuse me, I’m going to go cry tears of amazement that this has happened for any of us, anywhere, until there’s snot.

Today Moore, Oklahoma got slammed by what may very well be the worst torndado disaster in a hundred years.

Moore is just south of Oklahoma City. Just south of Moore is Norman, where the University of Oklahoma and the National Weather Center are.

I did my master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma. I lived in Norman for 3.5 years. I have many good friends in Moore. Most of them are accounted for, thank goodness. We’re still waiting to hear if their houses are still standing.

They also lived through the F5 tornado that hit them in May 1999. That year, my friend Lizzie was in 11th grade. Her high school was destroyed. Her mother’s car was swept away; all they ever found of it was one of its doors in a tree. But they were all okay.

I don’t really know what I want to say. I just needed to write it. My heart aches. I was so lucky when I lived there, but one of the professors in my department did lose his home to a tornado in 2010.

My parents and brother live in New York City, and they were all fortunately spared by Sandy. I hope beyond hope that everyone I know in Oklahoma, and all of their loved ones, are safe.

this is nibble.  She is a vampire.  Looks-wise, she’s a late teen.

It’s been a little bit since I’ve drawn stuff that wasn’t wow-related, but someone on Twitter was talking about setting up a Vampire: the Requiem game over the weekends.  I AM EXCITED.

She’s a Nosferatu, of course.  The skin on the right side of her body is all funky colors and scaly and then there’s her EYE she has a skin condition, don’t make fun of her you fucks.  She probably smells funky, too.  She’s cool, though.  She’s in with the Carthian Movement and is basically a socialist, Social Justice Vampire.  She likes computers and chatting online and mainly goes by her online handle, nibble.  She can be absolutely freaking terrifying when she wants to, but is usually fairly chill.

She would totally go on Tumblr and nightblog.

That’s about as I’ve gotten with her development so far.
